Hoary Bat
Gilbert, Arizona
Nikon D500, 500mm f/5.6 PF, 1/3200, f/6.3, ISO800

It isn't often that you see any bat flying in the daytime.  This one was flushed from its roost tree when a Barn Owl landed in it.  It circled around for a short time and then presumably went and found another nearby roost spot.  I wish the sun angle had been better, but this is the best situation I had in those brief seconds.

Amazing catch - fortunately you were in the right location at the correct time - indeed a very rare site!

Well done for the quick reaction to get the shot! Certainly a rarity to see them flying in bright sun during the day, and a better light would have helped, but bats are something I've never tried to photograph, mainly for their low light/dark preference. In the circumstances you did well with this one!
