A non-native Boa constrictor that grows to about a meter, is currently a threatening force to the birds of Aruba devouring as many as 17,000 annually.
Coming out from a cave tour the park ranger informed us about these predators and i took off like a falcon to get a few pics of this ii-famous celebrity on this beautiful island.

Personally, I always think that snakes have such beautiful patterns and colours that I like to see them, but that's just me. This b/w conversion is certainly dramatic, Ramesh, and the detail is excellent.

Excellent details and treatment Ramesh. Always difficult for the local wildlife when these invasive specie move in.

Carol,
I think they always get the short end drawing from the ghastly tales biblically and imaginatively in story books and from mythology (at least in Hinduism - the multiheaded serpents & Greek mythology as well). Unprovoked they are slithe and slender beauties. AS with any wildlife one needs to maintain distance - but fear overtakes all emotions and the first response is to kill it.

They have some beautiful colors and patterns and are beautiful in their own ways - SO are all reptiles and frogs.

(only one thing really puts me off - caterpillars!!)

Thanks for appreciating

David,
Thank you very much. Very true - but most of it is man-made!!!

Nice portrait- I must say it looks more ominous than innocent, but that is partly because of the way you describe the problems it is causing. This is, of course, a human problem in the end.
