Dusk in the Okavango Delta and a young male Leopard sitting proud atop a termite mound gives his best Cheetah impersonation!
He was out spotting for Reedbuck and was yet to learn the (not so) subtle art of keeping one's head down when scouting for dinner. :D

Bushman Plains, NG 12 Concession, Okavango Delta- Botswana.

Like that info Marc! Marvellous image in what must be quite a rarity to see it out in the open in this manner.
Make your life spectacular!

What a handsome boy, great pose,  and set off beautifully by that lovely layered pastel background, Marc. Wonderful shot!

I remember seeing leopards resting on termite mounds after dark in the Okavango Delta on more than one occasion, and when I put my hand on a mound one night, it felt just like a hot water bottle with the heat it had stored up during the day.  Clever cats to make the most of that warm seat at night time, even if they weren't hunting.  :)

The cat is very nice but the overall image really comes together with the great looking, layered sky as a backdrop.

Magical background for a unique image, including the leopard's behaviour.
Wouldn't this be HSS on the flash at 1/800?

Many thanks Greg,
yes it was (most likely) HSS flash, granted we're @ 1/800s, my apologies.

Striking shot and a great story too. Love the long tail draped on the mound and the beautiful sky behind. This is amazing enlarged!
