The Bighorn Sheep rut is in full swing in the northern Rocky Mountains of Alberta. D500, 600f4 @ 6.3, 1/800, 1250 iso, full frame.

Great composition and beautiful setting, Gary. Testosterone rules..... someone should tell those rams three's a crowd ! This certainly tells the rut behaviour story, and a click for the uncompressed view shows the superb detail you captured. Excellent work. Well done!

Thankyou for all your comments and for the Editors Pick, much appreciated! Cynthia, yes this was a wonderful time watching these three running around up high. There were a couple of other rams that came into the picture from time to time and added to the frivolity. At times things got pretty rough with much head butting as well as pushing and shoving. Sometimes a ram would get knocked down and I was genuinely holding my breath in fear that he might be shoved over a cliff and die, luckily he would always manage to get to his feet and continue on...
