Bull Elk Sparing

This is an image of two bull elk sparing with each other in RMNP this past September. The key message this image portrays is the intensity of the competition. However, it lasted about 5-8 minutes then they both went their separate ways and they both coexisted in the same meadow.

When you think what damage those tines could inflict on the opponent if the sparring and posturing doesn't make them back down....... You have really captured the intensity between these two impressive bulls, Ed - and well done to get an eye visible on both!

Thanks for the kind comments.  Both eyes were achieved by luck and 12 frames/sec.

Nice composed behavioral image. I like that you were able to capture the eye on each bull. Not always easy when sparing.
