Black Giant Squirrels are confined to parts of Asia and are among the largest squirrel species in the world. They weigh up to 2.8 lb and the body is 15 inches long plus another 17 inches for the tail. In comparison the Eastern Grey squirrel is 21oz. They move quickly and are quite retiring. These two have been nest-building (dreys) and they may have up to 8. One they will raise the kits and the others are used for sleeping.
Canon EOS1DX Mk 3 800mm Canon lens plus 1.4x, 1/125sec, f8, ISO 2500 Tis rare shot of two squirrels together was shot in the forest adjacent to our apartment. Cheers Graeme |
