Not typical chippy behavior- this on just sat there staring for about a minute. They are abundant little devils here this year. Please view full size...

It sounds like it froze movement to appear invisible - they might think it works! You certainly got a lovely image of this little chipmunk, Cindy! Great pose, sweet detail and nice background. Excellent frame!

Yes, Carol, you would think so, but we were in the car. I saw it before we got to it, stopped, took time to get camera out, etc. My husband thought it initially looked sleepy!  Go figure. :)

Really cute pose on a nice stump and good background
For your information this is an Eastern Chipmunk - Out west there are like 20 species of Chipmunks - sadly for me none live in part of West Texas where I live and when I am traveling in west identifying these cute little things is not always easy if there is more than one in the area
