I , for one , cannot time these shots. My method is to shoot a burst and choose the moment later..

Canon 1DX MKII , 
Canon 70-200 f/2.8 , ISIII , 
f/2.8 , 1/1000 , ISO640 , Evaluative metering , +2

Looks like your method worked nicely for timing to catch the paw stretch on this tree descent. Not too keen on the stark b/w conversion but its a nice behaviour capture!
