Just after a rain squall.  All sheltering.  Have left as seen so no cloning as the ear direction, and even the ear on the left is part of the story.

Barely 500m away was a pride of lions.. (not sure if these Impala were aware but they sure were on the look out and in one direction only).

Nikon 300 2.8 at f4.5.  1/160 at ISO 400.

Please feel free to view uncompressed.   Thank you for looking and a pleasure to hear from any that post as as indicator perhaps that all is well in their camp.

On another note, I have been quite struck how beautiful Impala actually are.

Great frame of the sheltering herd. The alert ears say they sense something. By selectively focusing on the foreground Impala, you have (in my mind) projected the detail and beauty of its body to the rest of the herd. A very beautiful and sensitive image, Dave.

Great behaviour study, Dave! The alertness to any impending danger is a tangible thread between them all and well portrayed with their body language. A good story telling image of these beautiful impala!

Great illustration of this alert behavior, Dave- appreciate the un-retouched look-it gives a nice feel to thew herd mentality.
