This is a juvenile male Tropidolaemus wagleri. On average I spend about a month each year in the bio-diverse tropical rainforest. This was taken during a trip focusing on herptiles last year. We worked exclusively at night when these animals are at their most active. Posting this one here as it was taken with an 18-35mm wide-angle, not macro.
Regards,

Des

I like how you included most of the snake in the composition, Des. Great selective focus and pose. Excellent illumination of the snake at night.

Stunning image with absolutely wonderful lighting. I agree the DOF is perfect placing the emphasis on the head but still showing the entire snake.

Nice angle and selective focus on this beauty, Des. Good timing to catch the extended sensing tongue.

Great photograph of a beautiful snake. The way the tongue is sampling any scent which might be drifting by is so typically reptilian.
