I photographed this wolf last winter in northwestern Alberta as he patrolled along the shore of a lake. Sadly, wolves are hunted and trapped unmercifully in this part of the world.
Nikon D500, 600 f4, 400 iso, f6.3, 1/500, full frame. Lightroom basic adjustments.

I like the lifted paw, curved grasses and layered BG.

I really like this- the grasses echo the motion of the wolf, and even match it's colors. Such a handsome animal-I am sorry to read about the hunting. This one looks a little on the thin side. I wonder what it finds to eat. A beautiful portrayal.

Wonderful image. like the comp Gary. Shame about the hunting as Wolves do provide a balance to nature as they have found in Yellowstone.

I love this one, Gary. Great composition, content, detail and beautiful complementary colour palette. The head turn and implied motion of the wolf is perfectly captured. One to be proud of. Superb!

Just a note......... why can't people leave wolves alone......

Thanks for the feedback everyone. There was an elk carcass on the far side of the lake I later noticed that the wolf had been feeding on.

I like the layered background and the harmony of color. Congrats on the editor's pick.
