While photographing foxes, I discovered a family of raccoons living in this large oak tree. Early each morning, mom would go to the ground and forage for food. The four cubs would usually explore and play in the tree, until mom summoned them to the ground. I got lucky with these two, who really put on a show. It was early morning and I was shooting in very low overcast light. At first, I set this image aside, because I was bothered by the blurred paw and ear movement. Then, I realized it was the blurred paws and ear that really help tell the story "Wake Up...a Photographer." Please click on image to view full size. Thank you for viewing my image.

Brilliant! A most beautiful story telling image, Ron. You are so right that the slight paw movement to get the attention of the sibling is a most precious part of this wonderful shot. The composition, detail and expressions are priceless. I Love it!

One of the most photogenic animals I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering. The pose makes it really special. Must be clicked on for the best view.

That's a sweet image, Ron. The blur does not bother me the slightest. Was there any particular reason you're shooting at 1/40th and/or ISO2000 with a FX body? You've done well to keep the rest of the frame sharp.
Regards,

Des

Thanks, Des. The very low light level, and being without vibration reduction, led me to these settings.

This has got to be an all-time favorite raccoon photo! Absolutely charming, and a story to tell as well. Priceless expressions! Love it, Ron! So glad you decided to post this.
