You'd be forgiven to not fall in love at first sight of this peculiar looking lemur. The Aye Aye is a nocturnal creature. It has evolved over the centuries to occupy a niche amongst the 100+ species of lemurs in Madagascar. In particular, it mimics the role of a woodpecker (there's none in Madagascar). It taps at hollow trunks listening out for grubs. When located, it uses its powerful incisors to make an opening before using the long skeletal fingers to tease out the invertebrates therein. Only static light was used to photograph this subject.

No, its not something I could fall in love with, Des - but their little faces just make me smile, and their grub hunting technique followed by the extraction of the juicy reward hooked on the end of that probing elongated middle digit is amazing to watch!  A lovely image of this wonderful little Aye Aye.  :)

Outstanding lighting. The face lighting and the plant on the left really set this composition apart. The cute factor also make this a winner. Congratulations.
