Not much to shout about, but thought to share some of the ladies getting tetchy.  Appreciate compositionally not quite right for my taste, but sometimes the action unfolds and if you don't react, it's gone.    500 F4 at 5.6  1/320.   (had settings for fairly static subjects and this erupted).

it's funny what appeals.  I could say the ears back on the hind that is being threatened.  Could say the watcher in the bg, but the thing that tickles me, is the young stag lurking on the edge.  Hoping for a bit of action but not confident enough.  LOL

Please feel to view uncompressed.   Thank you for your time and thoughts.

Composition looks great to me- really tells the whole story. Never thought about the "ladies" getting feisty- love the timid buck too. And the ears back...and...well, everything. Very cool...err...hot! shot! :)

Great behaviour capture, Dave!  It shows that its not just the testosterone fuelled males who are prepared to fight during the rut season, as the girls can have a great boxing match with their dainty hooves.  It reminds me somewhat of the mad march hares!  Its about time you started working on your book - 'Deer for all seasons'........
