this large croc left his small pond to cross over into a larger pond after hearing the jaws snap shut on another croc that had made an attempt on an impala. That snap was like a dinner bell. Even though it was a miss, it triggered a mass exodus of crocs from all around.

Ohh, that’s an evil looking croc!!! Nice detail and angle. I wouldn’t want him looking at me that way. The curved rows of spines on the back add a lot to this image.

Nice to have the subject emerging out of the water with muddy feet. I would look also at a more pano crop, loosing some of the negative space above, plus it would eliminate one or two of the distracting white blobs in the top RH corner. If you use LR then burning a bit more exposure into the FG would help and add some depth.

Not often you see shots of thise river monsters rising up out of the water like this, Jeff - your description of the reason explains why! Most of my shots just have them lazing around or slithering into the water. This action capture is a refreshing change. Well caught!

Thx guys.  Crocs are so boring 99% of the time but they are one of my favorite african animals.

Amazing action photo- I'd be backing up away from this guy in a hurry. A rare view for sure.
