Leopard cub trying to be scary

My previous post featured this cub with its mother.  Shortly after that image was taken, they were surprised by a hyena passing through.  The cub put on its fiercest face in response to the intruder. Immediately thereafter, it fled up the nearest tree and stayed high up in the canopy until the danger had passed.  Mom stayed flattened on the ground to avoid drawing attention to both herself and the cub.

Sweet behaviour capture, Monique - this cub is really giving a great performance, before running up the tree out of the way!  I don't think those eyes could open any wider. :)

What a wonderful capture and story! Love the expression-just look at those big eyes! Somehow it looks both scared and scary.
