This is really nice. Excellent framing using the tree, and beautiful sidelight. The bugling pose and attractive habitat strengthen the image. Well done.

Great angle, composition and bugling pose all in such pretty sidelight, Dave. A beautiful image! I don't know if its the way he's standing, but he doesn't seem to be carrying as much weight/condition as I would have expected at the start of the rut - I just realised that it usually starts late August over there, whereas ours is just getting going now. So this bull will have expended a lot of his energy reserves by now, as your shot would suggest.

Carol.

Hi David, really like the tones here, as the lights of the environment compliment the darks of the subject and you did very well with the darks/shadows of the Elk, retaining good detail & sharpness. Head angle works as it's side on and to the sensor, not tilted back from the viewer. If you have it, a tad more below for the legs I feel would be helpful IMHO.

Nicely balanced composition, I like all the flowers giving some added color. Don't really think of flowers at rut time, usually fall leaves! Nice capture of the behavior.

Zero fall colors in Yellowstone or Grand Teton N. P. in mid-September this year.

This is excellent! The close view, nearby tree, and lovely contrasting grasses really make for a superb composition. Although a tight crop, it works well here.
