probably the most dangerous animal in Africa.   Taken by the Mara river.   D300 & 500 Af-S F4 at 1/1250 F5.6, ISO 250...   Was struck by the unusually different stances... Normally all laying, and finding one sitting, one standing and one on the move, piqued my interest....

As you say, definitely dangerous, killing around 500 people each year in Africa. They have my great respect! The three different poses really make this image, Dave. Excellent capture!

The three different poses gives us a more complete view and understanding of the hippo’s body. I was not aware they kill so many people, as Carol pointed out. Excellent work, Dave!

Cool arrangement you've captured Dave. The harsh light is not helping you here, but still nice detail in the shadows.
