Shot this morning. I was using my OC-1 outrigger  canoe. On my chest was Cotton Carrier and  D2HS with 500mm f/4 + TC-16-A...that gave me 1200mm total reach with crop factor. There is no way I would be able to get shot like this from the land.
D2Hs, 500mm f/4 P ED IF + TC-16A
1/640, ISO-800, f/9, handheld from OC-1 canoe.

Please click on the image for uncompressed view, thank you.

I'll bet that was a sight to see, Ludo....... you must have looked like a warship with a loaded canon (not to be confused with a camera of the same name)

The detail is amazing!  Great background and light, too.   Well done!

Carol.

Accolades for such a sharp image from a 1200mm manual focus lens hand held from a canoe, Ludo. Great detail and great technique. Well done!

Nice close-up, Mako.
I think what you have here is a red-eared slider, not a painted turtle.

Thank you Paul for identifying the turtle. You are correct...it is Red-eared Slider.
