These Douglas Squirrels are native here and are getting pushed out by larger non-native Eastern Grey Squirrels .
Shot few weeks ago. Very often I go for a nice walk in the woods trails during my lunch break when at work. I used to carry big 500mm f/4 with D2Hs with me just in case. Now I am using Panasonic Lumix FZ300, so much joy,for walking in the woods ,only 1 1/2 lb weight :-).
Super sharp even wide open at f/2.8.
Panasonic Lumix FZ300
1/160, ISO-100, f/2.8 108mm (600mm FF eq), handheld.

Wow- nice clarity with that camera! How nice to have a light-weight option as a carry around. Light-weight technology is just getting better and better as you are showing here. Thanks for sharing you thoughts on the squirrel and the camera.

A sweet and beautifully detailed capture of this cheeky little squirrel, Ludo. Looks like you've got a good 'walk in the woods' camera there with the quality of this shot!

The Douglas is a cute squirrel, and the image quality is excellent with the FZ300. Nice shot.

Cute! The grey squirrels haven't made it this far north yet, so our red squirrels haven't had the competition.

White balance is always tricky to get right on this type of shot--the squirrel is a bit on the blue side, but if you correct that, the background will be too warm.
