Taken in Nakuru NP.  Don't normally go for side profile shots but the rain, flies and that expression all add something for me.

D300 500 AF-S II.  1/250 F5.  Iso 320.

The quirky things I love are it's mouth and skin textures and even the flies: (a few showing their blue iridescence ).  All so crumply and all so helpful in probably dealing with Acacia thorns, although this time, one got left..

Lovely profile, Dave. Superb detail and so much to take in, the beautiful hide pattern, those pesky flies, and don't you just want to gently pull out that acacia thorn from under the jaw. The price he has paid for his favourite acacia twigs and leaves. His demeanour really does point to this not being one of his best days!

Love the forlorn wet look on this bull here Dave, but would reduce the blue cast for mine,
but understand with your re-processing of these older files, that was deliberate?

The profile view works for me, Dave. The flies, the thorn, and the "indifference" tell the story well.

A very nice, pensive portrait which is accentuated by both the thorn and all the flies buzzing around him.
