Just another image taken from the zodiac as we headed quickly back to the main ship as we were concerned about the pack ice forming, locking in our vessel. No worries with SS & DoF, just push the ISO and the 1DXMKI & MKII just take it in their stride. Personally the image could do with a bit more content below, but sometimes hard to frame in a moving zodiac, at speed.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed the previous thread.

I agree on a touch more room below this big boy - but we take what we can get! A fine image, although I wonder if a little more contrast on the walrus would help with the flat light? Just my two pennies worth, Steve.

Perhaps a Channel Curves adjustment Carol, as you can 'tailor' this better, but I tend to avoid Contrast to a certain degree as you loose detail, especially in the more darker/shadow areas. Controlling Contrast in LR and probably ACR (as it uses the same 'module') is key because both add in truck loads behind the scenes!!!!

Yes, I like to use LR first and finish off in PS.

'Yes, I like to use LR first and finish off in PS'.

IMHO that is the way to go Carol.

Yes there are other raw converters out there that have better benefits in part ie C1, but overall I feel LR is the most 'uniform' and is seamless between LR, PSCC and back again to LR. My only issue in the latest versions is that LR adds Contrast behind the scenes, plus I hate the new Colour filters (design for those who do not wish to process their Raws) and the increase in input sharpening (not Output)

It's not had a HUGE upgrade over the last 12 years, but sadly way over due.

Just my personal take, sorry to go off topic.  :)

Nice head turn/pose. Pretty good detail in the walrus for ISO 4000.
