Unfortunate Encounter

A past encounter with a porcupine is evident.
The remainder of the quill didn't seem to bother foxie very much.

Carol, that quill that looks as if it might be on his neck is actually a part of the tongue one.
My guess is that the encounter was some time ago, as all the other quills she certainly got have come out. A friend in New Hampshire - who was on this trip with me - has dogs that dogs got into a porcupine a couple days ago and the vet removed more than 100 quills from their snouts and mouth in the 2 am Vet ER visit.
Nasty little creatures!

I wouldn't call them nasty, Sandy - I'm sure you and I would do the same if we were being attacked by dogs and fighting for our lives!  and I'm a dog lover, having had rescue dogs all my life.  :wink:
