White-Tail Deer leaving the scene in a hurry! The snow was about 3-4 feet deep and this image shows how well adapt to their surroundings they are. The deer saw me, and after a couple of seconds decides to "high tail" it outa' there! Here I am with my size 13's and I sunk in up to my thighs in the snow, while she just bound away with those tiny (but splayed) hooves and got good air - simply just amazing!

Fascinating shot Mark!  Now I want to know why the two 'inner' halves of the front hooves are longer than the outer halves, while the halves of the rear hooves are both equal length?  Is it something to do with enabling them to make quick turns when escaping a predator.....and if so, why only on the front hooves?

Great shot and you've really aroused my curiosity!  :D

I absolutely love this shot! Probably looks a lot easier to achieve than it actually was I bet.
