Haven't really posted much in the past few years, but I had to share this! My wife & I had an amazing three days with this male Lynx last week while it fed on a carcass. It was on an abandoned forest service road where we snowshoe in the winter. The highways department will sometimes drop off a highway killed carcass in this area ... about 100 metres from the highway (they plow up to that point). This particular spot is completely hidden from the highway, and very few people know about it. We're were driving to Jasper and stopped in to see what was new since our last visit, and we noticed a whole bunch of Lynx tracks around the carcass. We waited in our vehicle (the perfect blind in this case), and were rewarded about 10 minutes later when this Lynx popped out from the nearby forest. Went back there the next several days, and never waited more than 15 minutes before he showed up. Canon 1DX, 800mm lens, 1/800, f/8.0, ISO 500 (Manual Exposure, Auto ISO). |
