I was sat just off the deer path watching Sika deer out on the salt marsh, waiting for them to feed back in with the rising tide. This old girl was the first one to come off and as she paused to check all was clear I got this shot.

Canon 1D mkIII. Canon f2.8 400mm plus x2 convertor.
ISO 320. f8. 1/1000".
AV mode. Spot meter.
Ubique.
Retired but still got a Canon.

All senses on alert for danger and lovely eye George. Well worth a click to see the uncompressed view for the fine detail, nice light and complementary colours. Nicely done!

Thank you Carol. I always go for the eye as I feel it makes that contact between viewer and deer.

Thank you David. Yes but you should see it at the native resolution. That lens is incredible, even shows the veins in flies buzzing around deer.
Amazes me every time (except for the weight lugging it around).
Ubique.

Get that George.  My Father in Law had that lens and is razor sharp... just a load to drag around... :)
