Sorry to be in test pilot mode, but thought to share this close up.  Just really exploring what the D850 is about and what I can milk it for or learn from it.  Another deliberate close up... cropped, so left about 80% of original.  D850.  Sigma 150-600 OS Sport at 600..  1/250 F8 at ISO 1000 +0.33 comp.

Sort of image that looks good on social media, not that I indulge there.  Please feel free to click on the image to view uncompressed.  Thanks

Very impressive detail and image quality, Dave. This image not only compliments the D850 but the glass as well. Curious, was there a reason you went with the Sigma Sport lens rather than the Nikon 200-500 lens? Great work — thanks for sharing this one.

Looks like you're certainly getting the detail!  I keep waiting for the nostrils to move on this beauty.  :D

thanks Ron and Carol...

Ron, the truth was I ordered that lens two weeks before the Nikon 200-500 was announced. However, Had it been different I would still have bought the Sigma for three reasons. 1. Slightly better IQ. 2. Better Build quality. 3. Better Range. Not saying the Nikon isn't a good lens as have seen some cool results, just that even though it's cheaper, the fundamentals on the Sigma outweigh the price and weight saving.

Thanks, Dave. Its a beautiful image with wonderful quality, and I really appreciate your thoughts on the Sigma.

gotta agree with you re. the D850, it hasn't been off me 70-200E since I took delivery in October, it continues to amaze me.
