I am still working on the grey fox project in my backyard, The weather is unseasonably cold here in NC, Tonight its down to 17/-7, I had 3 fox in my yard tonight with 2 climbing up a branch i had placed months ago, 4 flashguns placed behind with snoots light the fox, You can see its breath in the cold night air

Grey fox are well know climbers, I have been trying for months to get images that show that, I have manged to get images using flash from the front but wanted to try something different, The animals are totally wild, In what way does it look contrived? If you can tell me i may be able to change something to make it more convincing

Steven, if you review Dave’s earlier posts, you will see that he has vast experience photographing wildlife in his back yard at night with flash. This shot by Dave is amazing, and there is no doubt in my mind that it is the real deal, and made exactly as Dave described it.

Pretty neat DC, the diagonal of the branch provides a strong composition.

Wow. Well planned and executed. Awesome shot - the condensing breath really puts this over the top.
