I was lucky to come upon these two big bucks as they approached each other. After a few minutes of standoff they began to fight. This continued for several minutes but mostly in tall grass with their heads hidden as they locked horns. As they worked their way out of the grass I could see that one was getting the upper hand. He actually lifted the other almost completely off the ground at one point! The whole time the 1DX with an ultra fast card never stopped firing - over 100 frame burst! I wish that I was a bit closer to the action but still amazed that i got to witness this.
The image is a significant crop.

Thanks Ludo. This was shot very late in the afternoon and the fight occurred in the shade of a hill as the sun was disappearing.I thought about getting out of my vehicle but did not want to alter the impending action with my presence.

What a fantastic thing to watch! Must've had some adrenaline going with that action. This clearly shows the intensity of the battle, and how nice that they even gave you a view with both faces visible. Well done.

Great action shot- caught at just the right moment to see the poetry in this behavior.
