Short-beaked Echidna, Cradle Mtn, Tasmania
Canon 7DmkII, 100-400, iso500, 1/1250 f/7.1 This youngster was foraging by the road not far from the wombat I posted earlier. It pretty much never lifted up its head as it probed for ants. In Tasmania, the echidna have more fur and fewer or less prominent spines than those in other places. Cindy Marple
