It is that time of the year again when most of my wildlife photography is about rutting whitetails! We had a late October snowfall on Friday so I headed out to look for wildlife! I found this dandy of buck he was actively keeping track of a doe! At the same time he was going to keep track of me! Whitetails (like many wildlife) can turn their ears about 200 degrees, they can operate each ear independently and also their brains  can tune into the sounds from each ear! I like this view to show this part of a whitetails nature story!

Cool ear rotation behavior. I've noticed foxes doing the same with their ears.

So many animals have this ability, and some can even flip their ears right back until they touch behind the head. No wonder their hearing is so much more acute than our human hearing with our fixed receptors! A nice illustration of this capability John.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Not your normal view of a big whitetail buck, but I thought it was unique to show one of the very important senses they use for survival; their ears!
