This mom and whelp were resting outside their den and had just finished nursing.  The den was located at the bottom of a large termite mount.  There were several adults and juveniles in the pack just resting in the noonday sun.  Two juveniles wandered over and layed down under our vehicle.  The guide had to finally bang on the side with a tire iron to get them to move so we could leave.

The Hyena gets a lot of bad press but they have my respect. Not too good an angle on mother but the expression on the pup's face is captivating. I hope the twist in its foreleg is just due to the way its sitting and not a deformity - they have a tough enough life as it is.
