I witnessed this encounter while trying to get closer to this big buck. He has the widest rack of any buck I have seen. The little yearling slowly approached him and timidly reached out his nose to make contact. The big buck just stood there, although with his ears laid back. Eventually they touched noses which gave the little guy enough courage to ultimately press his antlers against the neck and chin of the big guy. When they heard a noise they both turned their heads in my direction giving me this image.
Shot from my vehicle at some distance. Please click on image for uncompressed view, thank you. Canon 7D2, 500mm f4L II, ISO 2000, f/5.6, 1/50 sec, manual exposure, bean bag Bob Kothenbeutel
