Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas August 9, 2017.

Nikon D810, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/1000 sec at f/8.0, ISO 400.

At this age, the fawns are rarely very far from their Mother.

Very sweet image! Soft, sharp, and great pose
Mixed feelings about the 1/4 of mom - I think I'd crop so only the fawn were visible, even if it resulted in a square crop.

Sandy,  Thought I'd try a non-typical crop attempting to show the dependence of the fawn on her Mother and would get other people's opinion.  Thanks for your input.

Well, you can tell mom has been nursing, so it is telling a story with the fawn following her.

If this was part of a series of images showing the life cycle of deer, then leaving in the doe's rear end might be ok but as a stand alone shot it is always an awkward place to sever the body. The young fawn is nicely captured and could very well fill the frame on its own, although I appreciate what you were trying to portray!
