I call this photo the "lucky shot of the trip"....
You need to be lucky to encounter one, very lucky to spend more than a few seconds seeing it, and mega lucky to have time to photograph it.
I had "resigned" myself, after four month-long trips in Tayra territory to not even hope for it.... but my lucky star was shining on the 1st August in Itatiaia.
When I heard my great guide, Leonardo Patrial, shout "Tayra !", as we were driving down the dirt road, I instinctively chose not to check settings etc.. simply grabbed the camera, rested it on the sideview mirror, aimed and shot...
Not a great photo technically, I admit, but the result is "great", for me !

Never even heard of this animal- great to have "caught" it- reminds me of an American Fisher.
