Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas August 9, 2017.

Nikon D7100, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/640 sec at f/8.0, ISO 400.

In South Texas White-tailed Deer have their offspring around the beginning of August.  This particular Mother had twins and you can see one of the Fawns drinking water behind their Mother.

Cutting off an animal just before its hind quarters results in a rather awkward composition to my eye, just behind the shoulder/forelegs is better - like your thumbnail, and this concentrates on the pretty face of the doe and her little fawn who is is the real star of the show! The sweet light is the icing on the cake in this lovely sighting Gene.
