"Eye contact," indeed. Nice face detail too, even though you were working with side light. Good exposure, and nice texture in the foreground snow. A very handsome fox, Mike!

David I live in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness 70 miles from the nearest grocery store at 7500ft. I have these high alpine foxes living around my cabin. They keep the mouse down and become tolerant of me. So I can sometimes get a photo of one on a snow bank. My lenses with the 7D II is 320mm. The interesting thing about these foxes is they did a study a few years ago and found genetic they are isolated up here from the last ice age. Living here were the elevation is 7500 ft. up to 11,000 feet even during all year. Because of the snow and winters lasting 6 months or more they have grown hair on the pads to help in footing and keeping the pads warm. And in a bad winter will eat pine nuts! That's what the researchers told me. Probably more information then you wanted. Mike Eastman
