The previous night the two Machaton brothers took down a Buffalo close to camp, but we had not realised it was less than one click away. We eventually found them, but due too the access to the location we closed it off, so fortunately we had the whole time to ourselves.

Light was of a premium as it was at the base of a hill which was on the wrong side of the sun too, but hey, you have to make the most of it. The two brothers vied with each other, and as the carcuss got lighter, they would constantly kept dragging it around. Here one of the brothers had spotted four other younger lions slowly making their was along the dry channel, but they were ready to defend it, however a young Leopard was also scouting around, eager to take any scraps when the Lions were distracted.

The blood on the face really helps to tell the story, Steve. A unique capture!

An effective story-telling image, showing that you don't need an overall scene to get the story across. I like this one a lot.

The thumbnail doesn't help the image as without the bottom half it's no more than a side portrait. The leftover changes the story in my view.

Des

Unless you can change the square thumbnail crop Des, it's the head or ribs????

I think you've chosen the right square, Steve. I'm just saying that this thumbnail format doesn't always do the actual image any justice. The full shot is much more compelling than just the headshot. I personally often struggle to crop to a square.

Des

Greetings from Vancouver.

Thanks Des, I totally agree, just the 'architecture' is the issue factor here. :D
