While photographing foxes, I discovered a family of raccoons living in this large oak tree. The mother would leave the den at sunrise and forage for food on the ground. Slowly, the three cubs would exit the den and climb higher in the tree to play. I caught this cub just sticking his head out of their den to look around. I love the attentive expression on this cub's face. Please click on image to view it with a dark background. Thanks.

Nikon FX, Nikkor 500 mm, f/4 @ 1/125, ISO 1600, Tripod, Wimberley II Head, cropped up from bottom and burned a few areas in background.

Ron, I love this for the same reason that you do, not to mention those sweetly placed paws that double as most useful 'hands'. I think you have captured the character of this little masked bandit superbly. A real delight!

Perhaps not known to be 'cute' Ron, this wee fellow has an very endearing look.

The green strip here helps add 'pop & separation' to the subject. No idea how much you can push the ISO on the Nikon body, but shooting wide open has lost some detail within the face in terms of the DoF sadly, but a nice capture, well framed.

Very nice, Ron, and he/she looks 'at home'. The catchlights accentuate the expression.

Ron, absolutely adorable capture of this little bandit half poking out of the den. So endearing with those alert ears, the hand over hand angle, and the beckoning, heart melting eyes - really sweet :).

Ron, Great Image. In South Texas Raccoons are my nemesis. How they figure some things out are at time hard to understand.
