Monique, I am packed and ready to go, I may not look like much but I am well behaved and can grow on you like a fungus, with no cure for it!!!

Monique
I continue to enjoy your work here and thanks for consistent participation in the forum both commenting and with pictures. This hippo is really in your face and they always make interesting subjects. The point of critical focus is on/in the mouth and I think you were trying to really draw our attention "into" the mouth when you made this image. Although I seem to always want to get the eye in the sharpest focus, maybe this is a time when you are attempting to draw attention to a different part of the Hippo, like Carol did with her last post of the hibiscus. And the eye is still sharp enough.. I think it has a great deal of visual impact because of the subject matter and the large open mouth tight in comp.. Thanks again for your contributions Monique. Have a terrific weekend.

What a nice look at that huge mouth! I like the look at all the bristly hairs on her nose. I think this would also look great with her eye in focus. :)

Sure cannot miss that mouth. It is the center of attention. My first thought was to have the eye in sharp focus butnow I'm not so sure.

Thank you for making me smile today. Nice open mouth view. I think your 'Lady' needs a shave!

I never realized hippos had whiskers like this! What a fun shot. I bet a dentist office would like to have this with the caption "Open Wide"!

Monique, she's so ugly that she almost becomes cute in a strange way. You did a great job at capturing whiskers and big gaping mouth. Thanks for the laugh!

This works very well - and really surprises me because the flash does so well to illuminate the open mouth without bothersome shadows. Light mouth and yellow teeth stand out nicely against the darker hippo.
