Early in the morning, we found this young male leopard patrolling his territory. Looking a little sorry for himself with blood stained front paws, he was still, in prime condition and certainly well fed. Using the vehicle main highways around the area, the trails were soft to the touch of the paws, but ultimately - silent, ideal if you were in 'stalking' mode.

Having the tyre tracks visible is not ideal, but as I said, they use the same pathways as we do and so I would take a shot like this anytime rather than not. :D

* With hindsight and the Leopard moving towards me, f/8 would have been better for several factors

Fantastic specimen. Very nice shot, I like the desaturated look for this one.

Thank you EJ.

As I'm sure you are aware, like many animals, they will vary in colour, and the light was 'fairly' neutral. So in the PP stage I've kept it that way, so no desaturation - and in all honesty, I rarely use Saturation/Vibrance because it changes the colour too much especially the later, therefore the majority of colour work is done within the RAW stage if that makes sense?  :)

cheers
Steve

Beautiful cat and no problem with the road. As you say, the wildlife use the same pathways which give easier walking through their territory.
