Taken just before midday, light was bright, but not harsh, providing a very 'light & airy' image, with no real deep shadows, just a simple form, defining her physique. Some may fine the grass in front distracting, I quite like it, as it has an elegancy and I feel, in keeping with the tone of the capture. She had spotted some impala in the distant, so she decided to take the road her sister scooted around leaving the cubs behind in the tall grass, safe from any of the Hyenas & Wild Dogs. We then sped ahead and waited parallel to her and just waited.

Possibly my favourite of your images so far Steve! I love the almost ethereal quality of this shot and your excellent use of the available light and selective focus. I love the eye, and agree with you that the grasses add to the overall beauty. Beautiful!

What I love about this is the softness of the grasses and even the lioness, which contrast with the intent look in her eyes and her obvious goal as you describe it. The beauty of nature is so poignant in life and death. You have shown this so well!

I like the 'light & airy' look quite a bit. A good example of how an image that was not shot in golden light can still work. Love the grasses on the left side, but I wish the grasses on the right were not there.

Sadly Marsel you have to take the 'window' of opportunity with the least distracting elements when they present themselves and I'm sure you can appreciate, out in the bush, you often have limited time in which to do so  :) .

Don't get me wrong Steve, it's a great image. Like I said, I really like the atmosphere you captured here. And I appreciate that wildlife photography is not easy - it's very rarely perfect. I'm just speaking my mind :-)

I do know Edwin, yes. He's been on one of our tours many years ago.
