The sun was just hitting the corners of its eyes and there wasn't a ripple in the water.

I like the perspective, you took advantage of that nice still water. Such a menacing look!
From a processing standpoint, I'd try a version of this somewhat brighter, to me the water is a bit dark. I'd also crop a bit off the top, putting the subject a bit higher in the overall frame. Just some thoughts to try.

I really like the first light on the eyes and the smooth water. Cindy's suggestions have merit and would be worthwhile.
