This is young Margay (female) that once in a while comes to this lodge in Costa Rica, she is about 16 moths old and was raced by her mother near the lodge, they use to walk together at this place and of course feel no fear for humans (they are still wild) I got this shot during a my latest photo trip in Costa Rica and decided to use my macro lens (yes, you read that right, MACRO) I wanted to focus the attention on those sweet eyes..

Canon 5D Mark IV + Canon Macro 100mm f2.8 L

ISO 1600
f3.2
1/250 sec.

Natural light, handheld.

Wonderful pose and color.  We are going to Costa Rica in 3 weeks hope to get an image this good. You are right.  Those eyes are special.

Hi Jeff, a sweet moment captured and yes, those eyes are oh so cute.

Might have upped the ISO for more SS especially with that lens. If ethics allow, the highlight on the rock should go, just catches the eyes I feel, but all personal tastes.

Such beautiful little cats and your selective focus really highlights that wonderful face Jeff! I would be tempted to get rid of those two white spots on the front rock and the left corner so the viewer is not distracted from the star of the show - but that's an easy fix in this great image.

It is always a pleasure to view your images. Thank you!

Wishing you a wonderful 2017!

With a 100 mm macro lens, you were really close to this beautiful cat. Love the eyes and the slight amount of tongue revealed. Good job, Jeff.  It's a great image!

Another great shot. Nice focus change of pace and the eyes are terrific.
(I thought this cat was a tree dweller?)

That is a nice image. When is the best time to go to Costa Rica for a photography venture?
