Nikon D750
Nikon 200-500 mm
Photographed in Valparai, Tamil Nadu, South India.

We looked at the endangered primates, who had ashy grey mane and a very glossy black coat. They were lost in their own world, blissfully unaware of the dangers that face them. There are barely few hundreds of them in the Anaimalai hills. The locals, NGOs and wildlife conservationists are striving to protect these species in this pristine environment. We met two forest guards who track them and ensure the vehicles move slowly to avoid them getting run over by speeding vehicles.

despite the rarity, and info, the image in its own rights is top drawer with fabulous timing... the info and sadly the rarity is icing on the cake, although I am somewhat subdued in recognising that particular fact.

A beautiful animal with the grey mane and black body, and I really like its "lion tale" visible on your trip report. Thank you for bringing their endangered status to our attention.

Wow, look at those teeth. Very nice shot. I love seeing well composed photos of endangered species. This is one of them.
