Critically endangered, and mostly nocturnal, this encounter took place in near obscurity and I inadvertently pushed the ISO too much...hence the grain. The experience was way above the photo, but I am still proud of the result.

That is a beauty...looks like a forest gnome with that beard. The darkness fits the cat.

Looks like a unique encounter. One that doesn't present itself very often. I don't know much about this species, but most cats are notorious for being very difficult to get good shots of, especially the small cats.
Well done!

I think this is an exceptional photo capture of a rare and beautiful animal. The cat's face appears nicely sharp. It's too bad about the light at the time, but now with digital editing there may be more you can do with this image. If you can brighten it some and open up the shadows that would help make this image pop more. Also, the Google Nik collection has some very useful tools in it, and it's free. The Pro Contrast tool may help you. https://www.google.com/nikcollection/

If you do re-work this image, please re-post it, I'd love to see it.

Im not sure what i would have done in excitement if i was in your shoes, i think you have done a great job. As with most cat sightings an image can never justify the real experience. A fine image for me ... congrats

What a beautiful cat and the environment is outstanding as well, the rock covered in lichen is great. Congratulations on this exciting capture!

Great shot. I'll be visiting them again next month. A beautiful but critically endangered cat that's somehow dropped below the public radar.
Regards,

Des
