I estimate this horn to be about 45-46" long on this 8yo bighorn sheep.  It was low/bad light, shade, and no chance of a good shot but I managed to get something unique that wrapped around the eye with some backlighting.

that is one big ram; I understand the difficulty getting good light so will not comment on lighting.

Hey Shawn. I saw and photographed this same ram last week. Very impressive animal. I dubbed him "Jimmy Cracked Horn". Unfortunately he may lose the end of that impressive curl. Nice catch of the eye. My eye is drawn to it instantly.

Love the way you have framed the eye Shawn. He certainly is quite impressive.

Pity about the light, but the curl around the eye is a nice touch.
A big boy!

Very interesting capture Shawn, and great job getting his eye and the horn in good focus.

Different and interesting comp choice. You are having a good year with the rams! Consider cloning out the bright spots in the top right as they distract.

Really nice! I was a little disappointed when I opened up the image in that I think the way you cropped it for the thumbnail was the way to go. I loved the squarish crop of the thumbnail image you posted! To me that crop added a lot of dynamic impact that primarily focused all the interest to the eye and surrounding horn while removing all of the other distractions people are commenting on.
