Southern Elephant Seal
Sea Lion Island, Falkland Islands

Every morning before breakfast, I hiked down to the beach to photograph the elephant seals. I got many entertaining shots. This one had thrown sand over his back to keep the tussock birds from picking at his open sores.

Canon EOS 3 with 100-400 IS on tripod, Provia 100F.

I love the perspective but I'm not sure I'd have wanted to be down that low that close to one of these

Excellent shot. The sand piled up like a pillow is a great addition.. Very well done, indeed.

Unusual pose, straight down the barrel. Like this very much. Well done.

Cheryl, Great work! His expression reminds me of a puppy who's just been disciplined. Those sores must be bugging him.

This big boy definitely does not look happy! Love the sand piled in front and what looks like a spot of blood on his nose really makes this one stand out.
