A black-backed jackal fights off a flock of white-backed vultures for the remains of a baby springbok. In all my years of travelling to Africa I've never seen such a determine jackal jump so high in a battle for food, an amazing and comical scene to witness!
Some 10 mins later he emerged victorious, running off with the remains of the carcass.

What a brilliant frame and timing. The airborne Jackal and the eye contact of both makes the image for me..
