I encountered this wolf last spring during a snowstorm. Detail is affected (obviously) by the falling flakes but I like the mood created by the white-out conditions. The eyes are sharp when viewed larger.  Around here it seems that wolves tend to appear during or after a heavy snowfall. Converted this to black/white in LR CC with Nik Plugin but honestly there was virtually no color anyway. Photographed with D700, 200-400VR @ 310, f6.3, 1/2500, 500 iso ( didn't need that kind of shutter speed but the wolf was moving seconds earlier and I was in a hurry as well).

This works really well for me Gary, firstly because of the composition and content - I like the fact that you left plenty of space around the wolf, as befitting the species, and secondly I love the black on white of the wolf against the snow, and then the white on black of the snowflakes on the dark fur.

Very well done, and nice to see your images again!

I love this Gary - my kind of moody wildlife image!
I do see a bit of a halo around the wolf though?

Thank you for your comments everyone. Morkel I also see the halo you are referring to. I believe this is part of the effect created by the Nik filter I used; it is a preset called FineArt (High Key, framed). I was surprised how many different ways a seemingly simple black and white photo could be processed. I tried this in LR alone initially, but after playing around with Silver FX Pro in Nik I came to prefer this standard plug in rendering. Again, thanks for your kind comments.
